2010
Challenger
The 2010
Challenger will be making its debut shortly, and a couple of
changes from Dodge have generated a lot of interest in the
new model. To start, the 2010 Challenger will be available
in two new “High Impact” colors; Detonator Yellow and Plum
Crazy. While this is a good thing for true muscle car
enthusiasts who will appreciate the retro colors, there have
been rumors that the popular HEMI Orange option could be
dropped from the line-up.
The second
major change to car will be the price tag. The high end SRT8
model will be over $41,000 with the R/T around $30,000 and
the SE about $22,000.
As far as
the vehicle itself is concerned, Dodge has left the popular
retro model pretty well intact from 2009. The real wheel
drive Challenger seats 5. The SE package comes with a 250 hp
3.5 liter V6 with an automatic transmission. Both the R/T
and and SRT8 will be available in 5 autmoatic or 6 speed
manual. The R/T holds a 372 hp 5.7 liter Hemi V8 while
the SRT8 boasts a monsterious 425 hp 6.1 liter Hemi V8.
Apparently both of the 6 speed manual models will come with
a “hill holder clutch” that will hold the clutch on hills to
assist the driver.
Of course
the 2010 Challenger does not disappoint, and is available
with all the imaginable bells and whistles: Wireless cell
phone connection, digital music hard drive, and navigation
system.
In road
tests both the R/T and SRT8 got around 16 MPG.
There
have also been rumors on a 2010 Challenger convertible
available later in the year
